What the app collects

Zuckoff scans for Bluetooth Low Energy advertisements, the broadcasts nearby devices send out on their own. For each device it hears, it stores locally on your phone:

• The Bluetooth address the device broadcasts in its advertisement
• The advertised name, if the device broadcasts one
• The manufacturer company ID and any advertised service UUIDs
• Signal strength readings and the times the device was seen

This is the same information any Bluetooth scanner sees. Unlike iOS, Android hands apps the address carried in the advertisement itself, so that is what Zuckoff stores. Most modern devices rotate a random address rather than broadcasting a permanent hardware one, which is why the same pair of glasses can appear in the log more than once. The app makes no attempt to link those rows back to a person, and it holds nothing that identifies the owner of any device.

Where it is stored

In the app's own private storage on your phone: a local database for the device log and a preferences file for your settings and subscription state. No other app can read either. Uninstalling Zuckoff deletes all of it, and you can clear the log at any time from Settings.

Permissions, and why

• Nearby devices — the Bluetooth scan itself. It is declared so that Android knows it is never used to derive location, which is why Zuckoff does not ask for location access
• Notifications — the ongoing notification the scan runs under, and the alerts when a pair of glasses is found
• Run in the background — the scan runs as a foreground service so it can keep listening with the screen off. Android requires that service to show a notification for as long as it runs, which is the one you see
• Ignore battery optimisation (optional) — offered, never required. Without it some phones stop the scan overnight

Zuckoff asks for no access to contacts, photos, the microphone or the camera, and has no advertising identifier, tracking or third-party analytics SDKs.

Data leaving your device

Only if you choose to send it. The CSV export in Settings produces the log as a file and hands it to Android's share sheet; where it goes from there is entirely your decision. Zuckoff makes no network requests of its own.

Notifications

Alerts are generated on your device. No push server is involved, so no notification content ever reaches Google or anyone else.

The subscription

Zuckoff Pro is billed through Google Play. The purchase happens inside Google's own billing flow, so the app never sees your payment details — it only asks Google Play whether a subscription is currently active and stores that yes or no on the device. Google's handling of the transaction is covered by Google's privacy policy.

Children

Zuckoff is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, regardless of age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Since the app collects nothing, changes are likely to be clarifications rather than new data practices.
